Since Key West is closer to Cuba then to Miami it´s not a surprise at all that it´s a place where you just can`t escape the caribbean lightness and zest for life. Clocks tick slower, people smile more and all your worries seem far away. A feeling desired by almost every sun-seeking visitor that strands here after either conquering the miles-long oversea highway, the azure sea or the cloudless sky.
Now imagine how amazing it would be if you could find accommodation that emphasizes this emotion? Well, good news ... you don't have to look any longer because that´s exactly what the Key West Bed and Breakfast stands for.
THE HOUSE
It´s home is a 19th century restored victorian mansion amidst a palm-line street. It will not just enchant you at first sight but even enables you to travel back in history as soon as you set foot on the wide, southern style front porch. When entering you will be welcomed by an interior that sparkles with authenticity and charm. Hard wooden floors, high ceilings, hand painted furniture and beautiful artwork as well as lovely details that surprises you in every corner.
The vibrant art and the local flair combines the classic caribbean with the authentic Key West Style. A light and beautiful living room that immediately will make you want to take off your shoes, grab the newest morning paper from the small coffee table and get comfortable on one of the big, white, fluffy couches.
However there are so many other spots to which you can escape, sit back and relax, read a book or just do nothing at all. Rocking chairs on the front porch, a porch swing on the second floor and even hammocks that literally invite you to a lazy afternoon.
And there is even more! Instead of a simple garden you will find an oasis in the backyard boundary by a small tropical paradise with orchids and palms and a nice Jacuzzi in the center.
There is no TV but believe me with all this varieties of things to do you will not miss it for a second!

THE LOCATION
The house is located in a quite, tree-shaded street in the heart of Key Wests "Old Town" and is just a few minutes walking distance from all the main attractions. In a matter of a few streets you can dive into the bustling shops and bars of Duval Street but as soon as you make your way back to the beautiful house on the William Street noises disappear and you are wrapped in silence, serenity and relaxation.

THE ROOMS
There are ten beautiful rooms for every taste and every budget. The more pricy options on the first and third floor are spacious rooms that not just have cozy furnishings and a private bathroom but some even have a sundeck and a jacuzzi tub.
If you are traveling on a budget it´s not easy to find a nice and affordable accommodation in Key West, since it´s not well known for it´s backpacker state of mind. But even there the Key West Bed and Breakfast has a good offer that should not be missed. The four rooms on the second floor share two bathrooms, which are in the hallway. But that sounds more uncomfortable then it actually is. Don't imagine yourself waiting in line to get into a dirty bathroom which was used by a stranger before. It´s not like that at all! There is ALWAYS a free bathroom and it will be impeccably clean - I promise. Single rooms are also available for a reasonable rate.
THE FOOD
The delicious breakfast is served from 08:30 - 10:30 and is the incarnation of a healthy, satisfactory, eye-pleasing start of the day. An impressive array of fresh fruits, cereals, bagels, fresh squeezed orange juice and ... here it comes ... different freshly baked goodies every morning! You can either enjoy it in the sunny, colorful breakfast room or which was my personal favorite, outside in the tropical backyard.
THE STAFF
Well it´s true: A place is only as good as the people that work there. In this case both parties are just amazing. Jody and Liz are so kind and with their warm welcome they make you feel like coming home in an instance, even if it´s your very first visit. They take time to sit down with you and show you all the points you want to see and how to get their on a map. They truly know there way around town, have great recommendations and are always very helpful!
Not to forget the smallest member of the team, the doggy of the owner running around and putting a smile on everyones face. So cute:)
DO´S
- get excited every morning again which homemade pastry you will find on the breakfast table
- rent a bike for a day and make your way to Smathers Beach
- spend at least one lazy afternoon in the hammock
- enjoy the relaxing water of the jacuzzi after a day of sightseeing in town
DONT´S
- hesitate to book the rooms with the shared bathroom. They are really clean and beautiful and so worth the money!
- even if it´s tempting don´t just stay at the B&B - Key West has so many other things to offer
